Volunteer Management Training Proves Successful!

The San Antonio Volunteer Administrators (SAVA), a program of the Volunteer Center at United Way, sponsors a training workshop for Volunteer Administrators annually.  This year’s workshop met with tremendous success both in the number of participants and the quality of the workshop.

AWC Media Workshop for Nonprofits Is a “Must” Event

Each year, the Association for Women in Communications sponsor a free media workshop for nonprofits in the San Antonio area.  The Volunteer Center plays an integral part in the success of the event through its ability to provide the information to over 200 nonprofit organizations.

Harland Clarke Employees Observe MLK Day with Volunteer Projects

In the San Antonio area, Harland Clarke employees from corporate, contact center and manufacturing locations volunteered at five local nonprofit agencies in observance of Martin Luther King Day.  Agencies receiving assistance from Harland Clarke volunteers were Eastside Boys & Girls Club, Helotes Humane Society, Animal Care Services, Goodwill and City Year San Antonio.

SAVA Holds Traditional Holiday Bosses' Luncheon

Each year the San Antonio Volunteer Administrators hold a holiday luncheon to which the bosses are invited so that they can experience first-hand what a SAVA meeting is like and learn more about the interaction that takes place.  The event took place on December 11 at Anne Marie’s at Devonshire.

Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner 2008

Once again and for the 29th year, the Raul Jimenez Dinner was a great success.  The Volunteer Center was proud to sign up the volunteers on line through Volunteer Solutions.  The Dinner annually serves over 24,000 guests, and approximately 2000 of the volunteers who serve at the event are recruited on line.

CentroMed and United Healthcare Are Big Winners

When United Healthcare came to San Antonio for a conference, they wanted a volunteer project for 50 of its employees.   Somewhere across town, CentroMed needed some hygiene kits assembled and was thinking of the best way to get them done.

Global Youth Service Day is the largest annual celebration of young volunteers, where millions of young people in countries everywhere highlight and carry out thousands of community improvement projects.
